The years during Vanaja

  • 10.6.1948
      An extra meeting confirms that the company's new name is to be Vanajan Autotehdas Oy.
  • 15.6.1948
      The ministry of trade and industry confirms the new name.
  • 1.7.1948
      The new name is officially taken into use and the official production starts. During the same month the first Vanaja car is completed, model V-48.
  • May 1950
      The first Vanaja bus-chassis is completed.
  • 1951
      The first bulldog-model Vanaja is completed.
  • 1951
      The last Vanaja VaWh cars are sent. All together 60 of these cars were produced.
  • 1952
      Vanaja Autotehdas Oy gets to represent the Italian Ansaldo-Fossat company's earth-movers. The first Vanaja diesel trucks are completed with German engines Kämper and Swiss engines Saurer. Some customers own engines are installed to certain trucks, because the petrol engine period is starting to get old. The last halftrack car is being sold. For the first time the company's books show profit.

      The only Ansaldo-Fossat earth-movers that was brought to Finland are given to the customers.
  • 1955
      Together with Kiitokori Oy Vanaja delivers four rail bus type of railroadwagon to Valtion Rautatie. Vanaja buys the first big series of Leyland diesel engines from Great Britain.
  • May 1956
      Vanaja buys Leyland engines from Holland that are produces with license in a DAF factory. Vanaja shows the first bus with the engine in the back produced in Finland and brings two A.E.C. trucks to Finland.
  • 21.11.1956
      A separate selling company, Vanaja-Sells Oy, is founded.
  • 1.3.1957
      The factory's additional building is taken into use.
  • April 1957
      The first Vanaja type of 6X4 and first four wheel dive (4X4) Vanaja were produced.
  • 24-28.3.1958
      Vanaja takes part into the Finnish military winter test with three, for this reason buit four wheel drive (4X4) special vehicles and with one rear wheel drive (4X2) truck.
  • 1958
      The first bus chassis equipped with a recumbent engine was manufactured. Vanaja also produced the first 6X6-typetruck. Vanaja is for the first time taking part in a foreign exhibition, the international exhibition in Barcelona in Spain. One of the trucks is left in Spain for exhibition.
  • September 1958
      Vanaja takes part in Thessaloniki´s 23:rd international exhibition in Greece. One of the trucks is directly sold from the exhibition to Greece.
  • 30.10.1958
      Vanaja shows the new exhaustbrake.
  • 13.6.1959
      Vanaja makes an order of 500 diesel engines from the British factory A.E.
  • September 1959
      A small series of trucks are delivered to Turkey.
  • 3.12.1959
      The number 1000 cockpit is being delivered from Lahden Autokori Oy to Vanaja.
  • February 1960
      HKL (Helsinki city bus company) buys ten Leyland bus chassis equipped with Leyland engines from Vanaja.
  • March 1960
      55 prestigious people from Vanaja visits Great Britain. During the trip again 5000 A.E.C. engines were ordered.
      17.5.1960 Land is bought from Gustaf Winberg in Helsinki in order to later build there.
  • 31.5.1960
      The first Sisu S-22 truck produced and used in Yhteissisu Oy's is taken out of use in Vanaja.
  • September 1960
      Vanaja brings eight A.E.C. trucks to Finland and one more in the next year.
  • November 1960
      Vanaja presents the first bus with air suspension and that famous full load hoisting bogie.
  • 1-20.6.1961
      Vanaja takes part in the international exhibition in Barcelona. Four trucks are driven to Spain!
  • October 1961
      Wide nose Vanaja truck nicknamed "Barn-Vanaja" / "Nose-Vanaja" was introduced.
  • 1962
      Eero Kytölä gave up his job as managing director and house manger Ilmari Karttunen is named to his succesor. Opeations of Vanaja-sells Oy are cancelled and the company was closed down.
  • 13.4.1963
      When company have its 20th birthday it has 340 employee.
  • November 1963
      Vanaja import two 6X6 drive Thornycroft air-field fire-engines to Finland.
  • December 1963
      State institution called TVH orders 80 road service trucks, which are delivered to customer during year 1964.
  • Spring 1964
      Vanaja negotiates with Swedish AB Scania-Vabis about possible co-operation.
  • 30.5.1964
      Vanaja´s headquaters moves from Helsinki to Hämeenlinna.
  • November 1964
      Vanaja orders 400 A.E.C-engine from Britain.
  • April 1965
      State institution called TVH orders 250 road service trucks. These are mentioned to be delivered by the end of year 1966.
  • September 1965
      HKL (Helsinki city bus company) orders 30 bus chassis, and they were delivered during year 1966 So called. Muros-Vanaja´s prototype is manufactured.
  • November 1966
      A new service station and sales office is open into Helsinki city.
  • 31.12.1966
      Town called Vanaja disappear, when it was split between Hämeenlinna city, and Janakkala and Renko towns.
  • 1967
      Vanaja negotiates with German Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG with possible co-operation and a Swedish Ab Scania-Vabis renew their offer to co-operation. "Muros-Vanaja" was officially introduced. 30 bus chassis were deliverd to HKL. Vanaja also introduced brand new bulldog type B6-76. This type is similar with A.E.C Mandator tractor. Ilmari Karttunen resigns himself and was replaced by administration manager Jaakko Jarimo.
  • December 1967
      Finnish goverment was proposed Tor Nessling that Vanaja could be mergered to Sisu.
  • February 1968
      A long term contract with Lokomo Oy crane factory (later known as Rauma-Repola Oy Lokomo factory) was sigened.
  • 5.4.1968
      Preliminary combination contract between Vanaja and Sisu was sigened.
  • 17.5.1968
      A proper combination contract was accepted in Sisu´s stockholders meeting.
  • 30.5.1968
      Vanaja and Sisu signed the combination contract.
  • December 1968
      The last Vanaja Viesti magazine was published.
  • 19.12.1968
      Grels Teir the minister of Finnish commerce and trade was signed the ultimate combination contract.
  • 23.12.1968
      The court of law of Hämeenlinna city was accepted the fusion between Vanaja and Sisu.
  • 31.12.1968
      Vanaja Carfactory Oy was marked to closed down to register of commerce.
  • 1968-1969
      Only 11 Vanaja B6-76 type of trucks were produced.
  • 31.12.1969
      After Sisu´s and Vanaja´s merge the company employs 1299 person.
  • 1969-1970
      All together 100 heavy Vanaja chassis were equipped with Jyry-Sisu´s cocpits.
  • 20.12.1971
      The last Vanaja, crane chassis TTB6+6-76, was manufactured and hands over to Lokomo in the following day.
